Recruiter lied to candidate about job role based 340 MILES away

Some unprincipled recruiters lie to candidates. Whether this is achieved by coaxing the candidate into a job under false pretence, deliberately ghosting them for weeks on end or covering up poor Glassdoor reviews to reassure them that a company is tip-top, there are many ways that a recruiter could be dishonest with a candidate.

However, an anecdotal story posted by a Reddit user signalled one lie that trounced any traditional recruiter lie.

    Made up rubbish. Candidate interviewed for 5-6 hours in total and neither party brought up the subject of relocation at all?

    Its a bit pointless hiding the location as the candidate is going to find out at some point.

    The role would probably be attractive to someone who is sick of living in New York but still wants to be involved in business that is happening there.

    They would have been better off selling the job as a lifestyle change rather than trying to pass it off as a job for NYC based candidates.

    That's like advertising a job as London and finding out it's in Berwick on the Scottish Borders
