Q&A with John Morris, CEO of JAM Recruitment

John Morris, CEO of JAM Recruitment, spoke to us about the firms’ unique culture, and what the future holds for the company.

What differentiates JAM from other recruitment firms?

“Here at JAM, we are committed to building strong relationships with both our clients and candidates. We take time to understand both in order to provide innovative recruitment solutions that are well suited to their requirements.

“The time that we dedicate to getting to know our customers allows us to offer additional services that are relatively scarce throughout the rest of the industry. We offer our clients the likes of PPA testing, salary reports, white papers and marketing support to promote them as an employer of choice.”

How do you motivate your team?

“Staff motivation is incredibly important within recruitment where they can be many ups and downs. We believe that when we combine the energy, knowledge and skills of a motivated team, we can achieve real success. The first and most important motivating factor is a positive working environment. We pride ourselves on providing an upbeat working environment that regularly promotes success, which we like to think plays a part in ensuring that our team enjoys coming to work every day.

“We have weekly and monthly team meetings where we bring the whole business together and talk about project wins, provide advice and guidance, celebrate individual and team successes and announce future incentives and business plans - this inclusive way of working ensures our staff feel aligned with our business vision. We also provide multiple incentives throughout the year, such as holidays abroad, lunch clubs and days out, as well as an annual summer awards ceremony and staff festival along with the traditional Christmas party.”

What does the future hold for JAM?

“We’re striving to continually improve as a business, and ensure that our staff feel valued and become real leaders within the industry. As part of this, we are looking to further develop our in house learning and development programme with the very best training consultants in the industry, as we seek to provide our people with a "best in class" career path.

“We have made substantial investment in nurturing and developing our own talent from the outset. Our staff shape the future of our company, so we believe investment in this area is vital. We love to see new entrants to our industry attack the challenges of recruitment with such passion and reinvigorate the environment, which is essential for a company like ours that embraces the importance of a winning culture.

“We also have significant plans to develop our international capability. So far this year, we have placed people in over 11 countries. As part of the continuation of our global offering, we will be expanding our Nordic division, which has continued to surpass our expectations.”
